Rick Froh

President & Partner

For over 25 years, Rick Froh held command and staff appointments in combat and construction engineering units, as well as serving on the general staff. After retiring from the Canadian Army, Rick’s almost 20 year career at NATO Headquarters included key leadership appointments including Deputy Assistant Secretary General (DASG) Armaments, DASG Operations, and Senior NATO Civilian in Iraq.

In July 2018, Rick joined ASSIG as its Chief Executive Officer.

Gunnar Borch

CEO & Partner

In 2008, Gunnar Borch ended his 42-year career as a Captain in the Norwegian Navy. He then became the General Manager of the NATO Airlift Management Agency in Hungary. With over 25 years of leadership and staff experience in international assignments, mainly NATO, Gunnar possesses a profound understanding of multinational armaments cooperation. He graduated from Norwegian Naval Academy and the Senior National Staff College.

Gunnar joined ASSIG in 2013 as VP Europe.

Sean Midwood

VP North America & Partner

Sean Midwood specialized in Combat Systems in the Royal Canadian Navy, holding Senior Operational and Engineering Staff positions, including Project Engineer for the NATO Sea Sparrow Missile System. In NATO Communication and Information Agency, he led Joint Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (JISR) teams, becoming the Chief of Staff to the Chief Technology Officer. His passion is helping startups in field of JISR.

Sean joined ASSIG as VP North America in 2018.

Boris Rousseff

Director at Large & Partner

Boris Rousseff graduated with a PhD in International Law before completing his Masters of Business Administration at Institut Européen d'Administration des Affaires (INSEAD) in Fontainebleau. He is a former Wall Steet Investment Banker and is an expert in finance for defense industry.

Boris joined ASSIG in 2010, at its founding.

ASSIG has a stable of very experienced Associate Consultants, including:

Hubert Heuer -Colonel Heuer retired from the German Air Force (GAF) in December 2006 after more than 40 years of service. At the time of his retirement, Hubert was serving as Chief Logistics, NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Programme Management Agency (NAPMA). During his lengthy career in the GAF, Hubert served in a wide variety of senior positions in the Logistics and Engineering communities. Hubert holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a degree in Systems Management.

Donald Turnbull - Retired Royal Air Force officer who work on air related topics in NATO’s Defence Investment Division

Bogdan Horvat - Former Company Commander in the Slovenian Army, Slovenian National Armaments Director’s Representative at NATO Headquarters and first Chair of the NATO Airlift Management Organization. His last appointment was as Executive Officer of the NATO Ground Surveillance Management Agency (NAGSMA).

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our founder, mentor and very dear friend - Ray Sturgeon. and we continue to operate using the principles and legacy of our very good friend and professional. Mr. Sturgeon was a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa from which he received three degrees: an undergraduate degree in Political Science ; an honours degree in Western and East European Politics; and a Master's degree in International Affairs. Ray had a long military career before key roles for Canada within NATO as well as commercial appointments with companies such as BAE. He founded ASSIG in 2010.
